What to know about Script Writing
- People speak about 130 to 150 words a minute, so start a 30-second Reel script near 75 words and cut lines that explain rather than show.
- Read every line aloud before filming and rewrite wherever your mouth stumbles, which catches more robotic phrasing than any grammar or AI checker.
- Put the most surprising point at the two-thirds mark of the body, not first, so it pulls viewers through and can create a rewatch spike.
- Five to ten real on-brand captions in a prompt beat any tone description, and rewriting more than about 20% of a draft means the setup is too vague.

How Successful Creators Structure Video Scripts
The hook, setup, body, close framework high-performing creators use to keep viewers watching long enough for the algorithm to push further.
Common questions.
01How should I structure a short-form video script?
Use four parts. A hook in the first three seconds that makes a specific promise, a setup by about second eight that says what the viewer will get, a body built as a series of micro-hooks with the strongest point near the end, and a five to ten second close. The close should ask for a save or share and answer the question the hook raised.
02Why do ChatGPT scripts not sound like me?
Given only a topic, ChatGPT writes the statistical average of its training data, so the result sounds like no one in particular. Pasting five to ten of your real captions helps far more than describing your tone, but that context resets every session and your vocabulary and hook style drift. Octupie builds a persona from your own reels or writing samples so drafts start in your style.
03What call to action works best at the end of a Reel?
Ask for a save or a share, framed around the viewer's interest. Lines like "save this for the next script you write" or "send this to a creator friend stuck on retention" beat "follow for more", because Instagram weights saves and shares more heavily than comments or likes. The strongest closes also return to the tension the hook set up.
