This Privacy Policy explains how Octupie Technologies Private Limited ("Octupie", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use Octupie (the "Service"). We are the data controller for the personal information described here.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us:

Account details such as your name, email address, and sign-in details.
Your Instagram handle, and any other profiles or website links you choose to add (such as LinkedIn, X, or YouTube).
Profile and brand information you provide to personalize your strategy and scripts (who you are, goals, audience, content pillars, and reference creators), and your answers to the strategist's questions.
Documents, writing samples, and your own reels that you add to build your style profile.
Your messages to the AI strategist, the scripts you generate and edit, and voice recordings if you use voice input (which we convert to text).
Communications you send us, such as support requests and problem reports.

Public information about you and other creators:

To learn your style and build your feed, we collect publicly available information from your Instagram account and from the public Instagram accounts in your niche: handle, display name, profile picture, follower count, public posts and reels, captions, on-screen text, and view, like, and comment counts.
We use this information only to analyse what performs well and to show it to the Octupie users researching that niche. We do not use it to contact those creators or to build advertising profiles. If you are a creator and want your public account excluded from Octupie, email shivank@octupie.com and we will exclude it.

Payment information:

Payments are processed by our merchant of record, Paddle. We do not store your full card details. Paddle collects and processes your payment information under its own privacy policy. We receive limited billing data such as your subscription status, plan, country, and the last digits of your payment method.

Information we collect automatically:

Usage data such as features used, actions taken, and session activity.
Device and log data such as IP address, browser type, and access times.
Cookies and similar technologies used to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and measure usage.
On our website, Google Analytics data about your visit, and the campaign details of the link that brought you to us (such as UTM tags), which we pass to our app when you sign up so we know which posts and campaigns bring people to Octupie.

2. How we use your information

We use your information to:

Provide, operate, and maintain the Service, including generating your scripts.
Personalize output to your style and preferences.
Process subscriptions and manage your account (through Paddle).
Improve and develop the Service, using aggregated usage statistics rather than your content.
Communicate with you about your account, updates, and support.
Send product and marketing messages where you have not opted out, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and security issues.
Comply with legal obligations.

3. AI processing

The inputs you provide are processed by our AI model providers to generate output for you. We do not use your content (your reels, documents, writing samples, chats, or scripts) to train AI models, ours or anyone else's. We may use aggregated usage statistics, which do not include your content, to improve the Service. We do not sell your personal information.

4. How we share information

We share personal information only as needed:

Service providers who help us run the Service, under confidentiality obligations. These include providers for hosting, sign-in and authentication, email delivery, website analytics providers (such as Google Analytics), customer support, and AI model infrastructure that processes your inputs to generate output. Our website analytics providers may receive web server logs, including IP address and browser type.
Paddle, our merchant of record, to process payments and billing.
Legal and safety reasons, where required by law or to protect rights, safety, and property.
Business transfers, if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to you.

5. International transfers

We operate globally and serve users in India, the United States, and other countries. Your information may be processed in countries other than your own. Where we transfer personal data internationally, we use appropriate safeguards as required by applicable law.

6. Data retention

We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. You can ask us to delete your account at any time by emailing shivank@octupie.com. After you close your account, we retain information only as long as necessary for legitimate business or legal purposes, then delete or de-identify it.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent.

If you are in the EU or UK (GDPR): you have the rights described above and may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
If you are in California (CCPA/CPRA): you have rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell your personal information.
If you are in India (Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023): you have rights to access, correction, and erasure, and to grievance redressal.

We use cookies to operate the Service, remember your preferences, and understand usage. Our website uses Google Analytics cookies to measure visits. If you are in the UK, the EU, or Switzerland, we ask first and set analytics cookies only if you accept. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
